Survivors' Advocacy Coalition
We are an advocacy coalition of people and organizations dedicated to making pathways to help survivors get free from active conditions (active conditions: when a person is born into trafficking and torture, and then––through isolation––is forced to remain dependent upon people and institutions, including hospitals, healthcare, law enforcement, etc., that do not recognize the reality of their life conditions and function to increase their non-safety and ongoing harm).

We function as an alliance of people and organizations who are available to listen to and advocate for the needs and concerns of the victim-survivor population. To our knowledge, this community function is non-existent. The presence of community members aligning together may help lend perceived legitimacy to the voices of victim-survivors and generate more respect than individual efforts. Our intention is to lift up and support the voices of this victim-survivors.

A community approach can accomplish goals that reach beyond the capacity and scope of any individual person or organization. We wish for people to participate of all backgrounds, disciplines, and life experiences who share the similar responsibilities and concerns of helping those still enslaved to get free. We can benefit together from opportunities to combine and share information and resources and increase access to resources for the rest of the community.

The intended function of this community coalition is to accomplish a specific series of activities with the victim-survivor population that entails supporting survivor’s rights; locating unmet needs; generating a community safety improvement plan for meeting unmet needs; and helping survivors to get free.

A coalition is a prevention tool. Our group is focused on the prevention of any more needless deaths and ongoing harm of this population.
